Extrusions
At PRP Manufacturing, we offer a comprehensive rubber extrusion service tailored to meet demanding mechanical, environmental, and sealing requirements. Our in-house and partner network capabilities support the development of custom and standard extrusion profiles, from prototype runs through to large-scale production.
What is Rubber Extrusion?
Rubber extrusion is a continuous manufacturing process where uncured rubber compounds are forced through a die to produce parts with a consistent cross-sectional profile. Once extruded, the material is cured (vulcanised) to harden and stabilise its final shape. This process is ideal for producing gaskets, seals, weatherstrips, edge trims, and countless other linear-profile components.
At PRP, we work with a variety of elastomers and tooling configurations to deliver high-performance extrusions suited for industrial, defence, transport, construction, and OEM applications.
What is the Tolerance of Our Rubber Extrusions?
-
Standard Profile Extrusions – Tolerances typically align with ISO 3302-1 Class E2 or E3, depending on the complexity and material type.
-
Precision-Cut Extrusions – For higher-spec applications, we apply tighter control measures to achieve improved consistency across length, wall thickness, and mating surfaces.
-
Joined and Finished Sections – We also offer in-house cut-to-length, corner joining, and adhesive backing services where tolerances across bonded or assembled sections can be maintained within ±0.5 mm depending on profile geometry.
All products undergo visual and dimensional inspection to meet application-specific tolerances and sealing performance.
What Materials Do We Support?
We offer a wide selection of rubber materials, each chosen based on operating conditions, chemical exposure, and durability requirements:
-
EPDM – Excellent UV, ozone, and weather resistance; ideal for outdoor seals and HVAC.
-
Nitrile (NBR) – Strong resistance to oils, fuels, and greases; commonly used in industrial and automotive settings.
-
Silicone – High temperature range and flexibility; ideal for medical, aerospace, and food-grade applications.
-
Neoprene – Balanced properties; resistant to weathering and moderate chemicals.
-
Natural Rubber – Superior flexibility and resilience for dynamic or impact-based applications.
-
FKM (Viton®) – Exceptional chemical and high-temperature resistance for extreme environments.
We help match the right rubber compound to the profile’s function, whether it’s sealing against pressure, absorbing vibration, or insulating against heat and moisture.
Applications Across Industries
Rubber extrusions at PRP Manufacturing are used in critical applications where sealing, protection, and resilience are essential:
-
Seals and Gaskets – Weatherseals, watertight barriers, pressure seals
-
Vibration Isolation – Anti-vibration mounts and edge cushioning
-
Protective Trims – Door edge protection, panel guards, glazing strips
-
Cable and Hose Management – U-channels and carriers to shield sensitive components
-
Custom Profiles – Tailored extrusions to match specific mounting or assembly geometries
-
Fire-Rated and Food-Safe Profiles – Certified materials for use in transport, construction, and commercial food equipment
Our ability to design, source tooling, prototype, cut, and assemble rubber extrusions gives us the flexibility to support both small-scale custom runs and ongoing production supply programs.
