Extrusions
At PRP Manufacturing, we produce custom rubber and plastic mouldings to suit demanding applications where precision, durability, and performance are critical. Our manufacturing approach supports both low-volume prototyping and full-scale production across a wide variety of moulding processes and material types.
What is Moulding?
Moulding is a process where raw material—typically in the form of pellets, granules, or uncured compounds—is shaped into a defined geometry using a mould under heat and pressure. It allows for the creation of complex, high-strength parts with repeatable dimensions, often in a single operation.
Depending on the material and application, we utilise a range of techniques including:
-
Compression moulding (for rubber and high-durometer parts)
-
Injection moulding (for plastics and precision rubber components)
-
Transfer moulding (for high-complexity rubber shapes)
-
Insert moulding (where rubber or plastic is moulded around a metal or composite insert)
What is the Tolerance of Our Moulded Parts?
-
Rubber Mouldings – Tolerances typically follow ISO 3302-1 Classes M2 to M3, depending on part geometry and material hardness. Custom control plans are used for critical sealing applications.
-
Plastic Mouldings – Tight tolerances of ±0.05 mm or better can be achieved depending on the resin and tooling, especially for small or complex parts.
-
Post-Moulding Finishing – We can machine, trim, or surface-treat moulded components to achieve higher precision or cosmetic finish where required.
Parts are quality checked for dimensional accuracy, flash control, and material integrity.
What Materials Do We Support?
We mould a wide range of elastomers and thermoplastics to suit environmental, mechanical, and chemical demands:
Rubber Compounds:
-
EPDM – Weather/UV resistant; ideal for sealing and insulation
-
Nitrile (NBR) – Oil/fuel resistant; used in industrial seals and gaskets
-
Silicone – Excellent for high-temp, medical, and food-grade parts
-
Neoprene – General-purpose with good abrasion and chemical resistance
-
Natural Rubber – High resilience and impact absorption
-
FKM (Viton®) – Extreme chemical and heat resistance
Plastic Resins:
-
ABS – Strong and impact resistant; ideal for casings and housings
-
Polypropylene (PP) – Lightweight, chemical resistant, low moisture absorption
-
Nylon (PA) – Durable, abrasion-resistant, high mechanical strength
-
Polycarbonate – Transparent, strong, and heat resistant
-
TPU – Flexible, wear-resistant plastic suitable for living hinges and grips
-
Custom-filled or fire-rated grades available on request
We assist clients with material selection, tooling design, and performance testing to ensure fit-for-purpose results.
Applications Across Industries
Our custom mouldings are used in mission-critical applications across defence, infrastructure, mining, transport, industrial, and OEM sectors:
-
Sealing Components – Grommets, boots, bellows, and O-rings
-
Protective Caps & Plugs – Dust caps, vibration isolators, and end seals
-
Mounts & Bushes – Rubber-to-metal bonded parts for noise and vibration control
-
Plastic Enclosures & Inserts – Custom shapes for electrical, HVAC, and industrial assemblies
-
Medical and Food-Grade Components – Silicone mouldings for compliant environments
-
Custom Engineered Parts – Tailored solutions for complex mechanical or environmental interfaces
Whether you need a single-cavity prototype or high-volume moulded parts, PRP Manufacturing can support your program with end-to-end development, tooling management, and local production control.
