Performance

PRP Manufacturing provides a focus on engineered materials to address many demanding performance properties and characteristics.

Heat transfer refers to the movement of thermal energy from one area to another, often needing to be controlled in systems where overheating or temperature regulation is critical. PRP Manufacturing offers a range of soft materials to assist in managing heat transfer, including thermal interface pads, silicone-based gap fillers, and thermal insulating foams. These materials are selected for their thermal conductivity or insulation properties, depending on whether the goal is to dissipate or block heat. Example solutions include custom-cut thermal gap pads for electronic enclosures and foam insulation panels for HVAC applications.

Sound dampening and attenuation involves reducing the transmission or impact of unwanted noise, whether through absorption, reflection, or isolation. PRP Manufacturing works with a variety of soft materials designed for acoustic control, such as open-cell polyurethane foam, composite barrier foams, and rubber-based laminates. These materials help limit vibration, airborne noise, and structural sound transmission. Example solutions include custom acoustic foam panels for machinery enclosures to interior acoustic soundboard for custom cut panels and design.

Electro-static discharge (ESD) is the sudden flow of electricity between two electrically charged objects, which can damage sensitive electronic components. PRP Manufacturing offers a selection of soft materials with anti-static or conductive properties to help mitigate ESD risks. These include conductive foams, ESD-safe rubber sheeting, and dissipative films, all tailored to suit specific applications. Example solutions include our protective anti-static foam inserts for sensitive electronic equipment, to defence and other telecommunications equipment.

Electro-magnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency (RF) transmission can disrupt the performance of electronic systems by introducing unwanted signals or energy. To address these issues, PRP Manufacturing has partnered with leading material providers addressing a broad range of shielding or absorbing properties, such as conductive elastomers, metallised foams, and RF-absorbing sheets. These materials are commonly used to block or absorb interference all while maintaining signal integrity. Example solutions include precision-cut EMI gaskets for enclosures and RF-absorbing foam inserts used in communication or defence equipment.

Temperature control is critical in environments where materials must perform reliably under extreme hot or cold conditions. PRP Manufacturing works with a variety of materials that maintain their integrity across wide temperature ranges, including high-temperature rubber such as silicones, PTFE and viton, thermal foams, and flexible insulators. Example solutions include heat-resistant silicone gaskets for engine components and insulating foam layers used in HVAC and refrigeration systems, with temperature ranges spanning -200 to over 1000 degrees C.

Chemical exposure can degrade materials over time, leading to failure in sealing, insulation, or structural performance. PRP Manufacturing offers a selection of chemically resistant soft materials, including rubber (such as Nitrile, Butyl, Viton), PTFE blends, cork, and non-asbestos fibre, engineered to withstand chemical such as oils, fuels, solvents, and acids. Example solutions include custom gaskets for chemical processing equipment, potable water pipelines, and unique requirements to serve in industry such as oil & gas.

Pressure resistance is essential when materials are exposed to compression, sealing forces, or mechanical loads that demand consistent performance. PRP Manufacturing provides soft materials such as reinforced rubber sheeting, non-asbestos fibre, and even metallic gasket varieties designed to maintain their shape and sealing properties under load. These materials are chosen for their ability to recover, seal, or distribute pressure effectively. Example solutions include flange gaskets for pressurised pipe systems and load-bearing foam for structural protection.

Energy absorption or rebound — including shock and impact resistance — is vital for protecting components, equipment, or even people from sudden forces or repeated impacts. PRP Manufacturing has a wide range of leading energy foams (PE, EVA polyurethane) specifically designed to cushion or dissipate energy, such as high-rebound foams, rubber-based impact pads, and engineered elastomers. These materials are selected based on their ability to deform and recover without permanent damage. Example solutions include shock-absorbing inserts for protective cases and impact-resistant pads used in heavy machinery or transport applications.

Mechanical performance refers to a material’s ability to endure physical forces such as tension, compression, flexing, shear, and abrasion without failure. At PRP Manufacturing, we work with both soft and semi-rigid materials—including durable rubbers, high-density foams, engineering plastics, and structural composites—to meet demanding mechanical requirements. These materials are chosen for their strength, impact resistance, dimensional stability, and ability to maintain performance under load or repeated stress. Example solutions include machined plastic wear plates, reinforced composite spacers, and flexible rubber mounts for vibration and shock isolation in industrial and defence applications.
