2023 Year in Review

Big growth, quality, branding, and table tennis.

Reflecting on 2023, all I can think of is one phrase – action-packed! With the COVID pandemic well and truly behind us, 2023 was one that saw PRP finish with our highest levels of revenue ever recorded. We produced over 1,000,000 assemblies and used over 400 different materials, resulting in us fast-tracking development to increase floor space with a second-level extension. While an amazing achievement, these new levels of growth highlighted the need for efficient processes and smart use of space. And as we moved through 2023, it was also evident that higher levels of inflation were here to stay, with adjustments in raw materials and overheads requiring a strategy that focused on efficiency and production performance. Our continual improvement mindset and collaborative team dynamics from 2022 lead the way, with many significant operational improvements, and even stronger foundations established to propel PRP into 2024.

Quality

The first half of 2023 was solely focused on one thing – quality. With huge efforts going into our quality system, we were audited and obtained our ISO 9001 certification by mid-year. This was quite a rewarding experience, as all members of the team were a part of building and defining our system from the ground up, including all in-house developed documentation and process flows. As we ended the year, the team continued to refine and improve our processes, and have goals to achieve ambitious quality objectives over the next 3 years. Exciting stuff!

Branding

Juggling branding alongside quality, PRP has continued to develop it’s presence and positioning within both national and international markets. Our website had a mini re-fresh, and over the course of the year we took part in several interviews, media days, and exhibitions, including the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition in November. The event, exhibiting with Defence SA, enabled PRP to showcase its latest in packaging innovation, with the development of a rugged PC complete with full track’n’trace capability. The case uses multiple technologies to track its location, and includes other sensors to measure elements such as light, shock and temperature. The case was finished in carbon fibre complete with LED lighting for that added premium feel and pop!

Table Tennis

It wouldn’t be a year at PRP without the annual table tennis championship. The “2023 Festival of Table Tennis”, at PRP Arena, is in it’s 4th year and didn’t fail to disappoint. The practice was relentless, the table was laser levelled, and the event took place over a grueling 5 days, including minor rounds and an AFL-inspired finals series. PRP’s Operations Manager Dean Watson (and number 3 seed) came from a disappointing straight sets knock out last year to clinch the title in epic fashion. The championship-winning shot was captured in all it’s glory!

2024

And this brings us to 2024. While 2023 was action-packed, 2024 promises to be the same, with some significant work at the end of last year kickstarting our campaign with a bang. The crystal ball includes a new brand launch, another new machine, and further development into our software related technology. Here we go!
